Career2008–2012: BeginningsKim entered the entertainment industry in 2008 by appearing in commercials, and became known as the "Oran C Girl" and "Lollipop Girl".[3][4] She made her acting debut in the drama Mrs. Saigon. Kim first gained attention after starring in the 2011 sitcom Revenge of the Short Legged.[5] She was then cast in her first major television role in the musical drama What's Up;[6] and made her film debut in the romance omnibus film Romantic Heaven.[7] Kim then starred in the high school drama To the Beautiful You[8][9] and headlined the horror film Horror Stories.[10] 2013–2016: Rising popularity and breakthroughIn 2013, Kim co-starred in teen drama The Heirs, wherein she played a chic and haughty heiress.[11][12] The drama's popularity raised Kim's profile and won her the "New Star Award" at the SBS Drama Awards.[13][14] In 2014, she starred in the crime thriller Gap-dong.[14] In December 2014, Kim signed an exclusive contract with King Kong Entertainment.[15] She then starred alongside So Ji-sub in the web series One Sunny Day in 2015.[16] In 2016, Kim co-starred in KBS2's pan-Asia hit drama Descendants of the Sun, playing an army surgeon.[17] The drama's success brought Kim further recognition outside Korea.[18][19] 2017–present: Leading rolesIn 2017, Kim was cast in her first leading role in KBS2's romance drama, Fight for My Way alongside Park Seo-joon.[20] The series was a success and solidified Kim's status as leading actress.[21][22] In 2018, she played her first period role in the third installment of the Detective K film series, Secret of the Living Dead.[23] In 2019, Kim is set to star in the historical fantasy drama Asadal Chronicles.[24] Filmography{{Main|Kim Ji-won filmography}}Discography
