HistoryA Wealthy Muslim family named 'Kodithodika' had a major role in the early history of Morayur. Early history and lineage of the family goes to descendants to Kunhali Marakkar who expelled to ponnani by the British. First man who was responsible for the Family tree was settled at Cheruvathur a place near to Morayur and Mongam with his brother. The name 'Kodithodika' means new house plot. The family was expanded further to Morayur, Kondotty, Amayoor, Arimbra, kuruppath etc. At the British Raj rule, it was common practice to appoint 'Adhikaries' (the present day Village Officer) from major families with inheritance rights, so the post was held by the Kodithodika family in Morayur. They continued to hold the post after Independence (1947) up to 1961. The first president of the Gram panchayat was Kodithodika 'Bappu' Ahmed, who served from 1969 to 1995.[1] References1. ^http://lsgkerala.in/morayurpanchayat/history 2 : History of Kerala|Muslim families |
