He defeated Algeria's Messaoud Zeghdane in the preliminary round of sixteen, before losing out the quarterfinal match to Georgia's Manuchar Kvirkvelia, who was able to score eight points in two straight periods, leaving Schneider without a single point.[6] Because his opponent advanced further into the final match, Schneider offered another shot for the bronze medal by entering the repechage rounds. Unfortunately, he was defeated in the first round by France's Christophe Guénot, with a two-set technical score (1–2, 1–2), and a classification point score of 1–3.[7] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Konstantin Schneider|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/sc/konstantin-schneider-1.html|27 January 2013}} 2. ^{{cite news|title=Schneider erkämpft Silber bei Ringer-WM|trans-title=Schneider won silver at the World Wrestling Championships|language=German|url=http://www.schwaebische.de/home_artikel,-Schneider-erkaempft-Silber-bei-Ringer-WM-_arid,936247.html|publisher=Schwäbische|date=5 October 2003|accessdate=27 January 2013}} 3. ^{{cite news|title=Ringen: Konstantin Schneider gewinnt bei Ringer-WM Bronze|trans-title=Wrestling: Konstantin Schneider wins bronze in World Wrestling Championships|language=German|url=http://www.mopo.de/news/ringen-konstantin-schneider-gewinnt-bei-ringer-wm-bronze,5066732,5899448.html|publisher=Hamburgen Morgenpost|date=1 October 2005|accessdate=27 January 2013}} 4. ^{{cite news|title=Die Vorstellung unserer Olympioniken: Konstantin Schneider|trans-title=The presentation of our Olympians: Konstantin Schneider|language=German|url=http://www.netzathleten.de/Nachrichten/Die-Vorstellung-unserer-Olympioniken-Konstantin-Schneider/Ringen/-6479273170838462464/a|publisher=Netz Athleten Magazin|date=22 July 2008|accessdate=27 January 2013|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://archive.is/20130217062016/http://www.netzathleten.de/Nachrichten/Die-Vorstellung-unserer-Olympioniken-Konstantin-Schneider/Ringen/-6479273170838462464/a|archivedate=17 February 2013|df=}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=Schneider als letzter deutscher Ringer ausgeschieden|trans-title=Schneider retired as the last German wrestler|language=German|url=http://www.schwaebische.de/home_artikel,-Schneider-als-letzter-deutscher-Ringer-ausgeschieden-_arid,1202101.html|publisher=Schwäbische|date=25 August 2004|accessdate=27 January 2013}} 6. ^{{cite web|title=Men's Greco-Roman 74kg (163 lbs) Quarterfinal Official|url=http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/wrestling/resultsandschedules/rsc=WRM174303/index.html|publisher=NBC Olympics|accessdate=27 January 2013}} 7. ^{{cite web|title=Men's Greco-Roman 74kg (163 lbs) Repechage Round 2 Official|url=http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/wrestling/resultsandschedules/rsc=WRM174352/index.html|publisher=NBC Olympics|accessdate=27 January 2013}} External links
