It was released by Polydor in the UK. It reached number 1 on the UK and Irish albums charts, and was the best-selling album of 2004 in the UK. Since its release it has gone 9× Platinum in the UK, selling over 2,700,000 copies in the country alone.[1] In Ireland it has been certified 5× Platinum. The album was not as successful in their native USA, peaking at #102 on the Billboard 200. As of February 2007 it has sold 299,000 copies in United States. [2] The album has sold 3,300,000 copies worldwide,[3] and is listed as one of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die in the book of the same name, edited by Robert Dimery.[4] The album won Best International Album at the 2005 BRIT Awards. In July 2006 it was named by Attitude as the top "gay album" of all time.[5] Critical reception{{Album ratings| MC = 81/100[6] | rev1 = AllMusic | rev1Score = {{Rating|4.5|5}}[7] | rev2 = Blender | rev2Score = {{Rating|4|5}}[8] | rev3 = The Guardian | rev3Score = {{Rating|4|5}}[9] | rev4 = Mojo | rev4Score = {{Rating|2|5}}[10] | rev5 = NME | rev5Score = 9/10[11] | rev6 = Pitchfork | rev6Score = 8.3/10[12] | rev7 = Q | rev7Score = {{Rating|4|5}}[13] | rev8 = Rolling Stone | rev8Score = {{Rating|3|5}}[14] | rev9 = Uncut | rev9Score = {{Rating|5|5}}[15] | rev10 = The Village Voice | rev10Score = B+[16] }} At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 81, which indicates "universal acclaim".[6] Track listing{{Track listing| extra_column = Producer(s) | title1 = Laura | writer1 = Scott Hoffman, Jason Sellards | extra1 = Scissor Sisters | length1 = 3:36 | title2 = Take Your Mama | writer2 = Hoffman, Sellards | extra2 = Scissor Sisters | length2 = 4:31 | title3 = Comfortably Numb | note3 = Pink Floyd cover | writer3 = David Gilmour, Roger Waters | extra3 = Scissor Sisters | length3 = 4:25 | title4 = Mary | writer4 = Hoffman, Sellards | extra4 = Scissor Sisters | length4 = 4:43 | title5 = Lovers in the Backseat | writer5 = Hoffman, Sellards | extra5 = Scissor Sisters | length5 = 3:15 | title6 = Tits on the Radio | writer6 = Hoffman, Ana Lynch, Sellards | extra6 = Scissor Sisters | length6 = 3:16 | title7 = Filthy/Gorgeous | writer7 = Hoffman, Lynch, Sellards | extra7 = Scissor Sisters | length7 = 3:46 | title8 = Music Is the Victim | writer8 = Derek Gruen, Hoffman, Sellards | extra8 = Scissor Sisters | length8 = 2:57 | title9 = Better Luck | writer9 = Gruen, Hoffman, Sellards | extra9 = Scissor Sisters | length9 = 3:08 | title10 = It Can't Come Quickly Enough | writer10 = Hoffman, Sellards | extra10 = Scissor Sisters | length10 = 4:42 | title11 = Return to Oz | writer11 = Hoffman, Sellards | extra11 = Scissor Sisters | length11 = 4:34 }}{{Track listing | collapsed = yes | extra_column = Producer(s) | headline = UK bonus tracks | title12 = A Message from Ms. Matronic | note12 = unlisted hidden track | writer12 = Hoffman, Sellards | extra12 = Scissor Sisters | length12 = 0:31 | title13 = The Skins | writer13 = Hoffman, Sellards | extra13 = Scissor Sisters | length13 = 2:55 | title14 = Get It Get It | writer14 = Hoffman, Sellards, Michael Nyman | extra14 = Scissor Sisters | length14 = 3:47 }}{{Track listing | collapsed = yes | extra_column = Producer(s) | headline = US iTunes bonus track | title12 = Get It Get It | writer12 = Hoffman, Sellards, Nyman | extra12 = Scissor Sisters | length12 = 3:47 }} Personnel
