He had joined many drama troupes before he became a film actor. Krishnankutty Nair became popular through the Malayalam films like Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu (in 1988), where he played as Thattan Gopalan, the father of Sreenivasan, who is bedridden due to old age. His acting skills were exemplary that he was usually cast in several films by award-winning directors like G. Aravindan, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Sathyan Anthikkad, Kamal and Padmarajan. Some of the films that he did with Padmarajan were Peruvazhy Ambalam; Oridathoru Phayalwan, Arappatta Kettiya Graamathil, and Kariyilakattu Pole. He had acted with superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal. In 1989, Krishnankutty acted in Sathyan Anthikkad’s Malayalam black comedy film, Varavelpu, which stars Mohanlal and Revathi in the lead roles. Krishnankutty played as the drunkard father of Revathi. A scene in the film shows Mohanlal and Krishnankutty having an argument. Mohanlal pushed him away, and he fell on the ground, which created a nice comedy in the movie. In the same year, he was seen in another directorial film of Sathyan Anthikkad titled Mazhavilkavadi, which stars Jayaram and Urvashi. He played as Kaleeswaran Kavalayil Kali Muthu, a barber, and the father of Urvashi. A scene in the film shows Krishnankutty while exercising and putting some oil on his thin body. Urvashi’s way of praising his health to Jayaram was really funny. Apart from that, he acted in a series of films and established himself in the field of comedy. He was later seen in films like Chanchattam, Kadinjool Kalyanam, Kuttapathram, Ulladakkam, Mookilla Rajyathu, Kizhakkan Pathrose, O’Faby, Kavadiyattam, Sthalathe Pradhana Payyans, Dollar, Boxer, Vrudhanmare Sookshikkuka, Avittam Thirunaal Aarogya Sriman and many more.[3] DeathKrishnankutty Nair was admitted to a private hospital in Shoranur after he met with a road accident in the year 1995. The scooter on which he was travelling with his son collided with a car. He died there after three days of treatment. Filmography
