The original Kyle House, home to merchant James Kyle, burned in a city fire in 1831.[2] Rumor had it that the great fire began in the Kyle House's kitchen.[3] It was then rebuilt in about 1855 as a two-story, five bay, brick town house with Greek Revival and Italianate style design elements. It features a three bay wide one-story porch with a flat roof supported by four fluted Doric order columns.[4] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.[1] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} {{National Register of Historic Places in North Carolina}}{{CumberlandCountyNC-NRHP-stub}}2. ^{{cite book|last=Hoffman|first=James|title=Day Trips from Raleigh-Durham: Getaway Ideas for the Local Traveler|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=b458QVsE40QC&pg=PA106|date=11 January 2011|publisher=Rowman & Littlefield|isbn=978-0-7627-6767-0|page=106}} 3. ^{{cite book|last=Smith|first=Emily Farrington|title=Fayetteville, North Carolina: An All-American History|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=xu2OTrvxEtkC&pg=PA59|date=1 January 2011|publisher=The History Press|isbn=978-1-60949-184-0|page=59}} 4. ^{{Cite web | author =Survey and Planning Unit Staff| title =Kyle House| work = National Register of Historic Places - Nomination and Inventory | date =February 1972| url = http://www.hpo.ncdcr.gov/nr/CD0003.pdf | format = pdf | publisher = North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office | accessdate = 2014-08-01}} 6 : Houses on the National Register of Historic Places in North Carolina|Greek Revival houses in North Carolina|Italianate architecture in North Carolina|Houses completed in 1855|Houses in Fayetteville, North Carolina|National Register of Historic Places in Cumberland County, North Carolina |
