Russell came to Collingwood from Sturt, with the 98th selection of the 1989 VFL Draft. He broke into the senior side for the first time midway through the 1991 AFL season and made three appearances for the reigning premiers.[1] His younger brother, Scott Russell, was a teammate in each of those games.[2] Back in South Australia, Russell went on to play a total of 170 SANFL matches, 130 with Sturt and the other 40 for Norwood.[3] He was CEO of West Adelaide from 2009 to 2013.[4] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/K/Kym_Russell.html |title=AFL Tables: Kym Russell |website=afltables.com}} 2. ^{{cite book|last1=Holmesby|first1=Russell|last2=Main|first2=Jim|title=The Encyclopedia Of AFL Footballers| publisher=BAS Publishing|year=2007|isbn=978-1-920910-78-5}} 3. ^The Advertiser,"Russell keen for more hard work", 23 July 2010, Warren Partland 4. ^The Advertiser,"More than $100,000 vanishes from West Adelaide Football Club - but police aren't called in to investigate", 9 November 2013, Kym Morgan External links
