The Larsen Special II, is an early homebuilt aircraft that was designed and built in Norway. It was the first homebuilt aircraft to be issued a certificate of airworthiness in Norway.[1] Design and developmentCarl Ludvig Larsen was a decorated World War II pilot who produced his own aircraft design. The Larsen Special II started as a single-seat low-wing, retractable tricycle gear aircraft. It is built of all-aluminium construction. It features {{convert|15|USgal|l|0|abbr=on}} tip tanks and a swept tail. The wing uses a center-section split-flap. Operational historyThe prototype was built in 1952, and test flown with engines ranging from {{convert|65|to|90|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} It was registered as LN-11. On 9 July 1955 the aircraft crashed at Fornebu and was rebuilt as the Larsen Special II, registered as LN LMI a two-seat aircraft powered by a {{convert|100|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} Continental O-200 engine. It crashed again in 1975 and 1982. The prototype is owned by the Norwegian Aviation Museum in Bodø, and is awaiting restoration.[2] Specifications (Larsen Special II) {{Aircraft specs |ref=Sport Aviation |prime units?=kts |genhide= |crew= |capacity=one |length m= |length ft=18 |length in= |length note= |span m= |span ft=22 |span in= |span note= |height m= |height ft=7 |height in=6 |height note= |wing area sqm= |wing area sqft= |wing area note= |aspect ratio= |airfoil=23012 tapering to a 23008 |empty weight kg= |empty weight lb=527 |empty weight note= |gross weight kg= |gross weight lb=900 |gross weight note= |fuel capacity= |more general=
