Laura Kathryn Wright (born 17 June 1990) is an English soprano. She is a classical-popular crossover singer who performs classical and operatic music, popular songs, musical theatre and folk songs.

Early life

Wright was born in Suffolk, and grew up in Framlingham.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} She won scholarships to attend the fee-paying Framlingham College along with her three brothers.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}}

Career

Wright first shot to fame as chorister of the year when she was just 14.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}}

She has performed at men's and women’s rugby matches at Twickenham.[1] Wright is also a regular at the NFL matches and has performed at Rugby League, The Carnegie Challenge Cup Final, WSB Boxing, polo, the Carling Cup Final, The Championship Play-off Final and the FA Cup Final.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} In April 2016 she performed at The Grand National and in July she was the official anthem singer at the British Grand Prix.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}}

In 2016, she wrote “Heroes”; the first official anthem of the England Women's Cricket team.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} She is also the first Ambassador for the Kia Women's Cricket League.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}}

Wright performed at the opening ceremony for HRH Prince Harry’s inaugural Invictus Games{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} where she debuted a new piece she wrote “Invincible”,{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} taken from her album Sound Of Strength.

Wright was the first mezzo-soprano to perform at the Olympic Stadium,{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} has toured with Alfie Boe and Russell Watson,{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} opened the iTunes Festival for Andrea Bocelli{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} and duetted with Donny Osmond for Children In Need.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}}

A royal favourite,{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} HM The Queen cited Laura’s Diamond Jubilee Song ‘Stronger As One’ in her Commonwealth Day Message at Westminster Abbey where the song was premiered and secured a No1 chart position on Gary Barlow’s Sing EP.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} Laura enjoyed the privilege of performing more times for Her Majesty than any other artist that year.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}}

Wright has trained to county level in hockey, netball, tennis and javelin.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}}
