Thomson has 25 years' experience as a prosecutor, including as district procurator fiscal for Selkirk, district procurator fiscal for Edinburgh, and interim area procurator fiscal for Lothian & Borders, and led on trial advocacy and deaths investigation within the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS).[3] She was appointed area procurator fiscal for Glasgow in May 2008.
