The V 42 was a one off, single-engine, two-seat sports monoplane, built in Germany in 1925. Design and developmentBroadly similar to but larger and nearly 30% heavier than the LFG V 40 and LFG V 44, the V 42 was an all-metal cantilever high-wing monoplane. Unlike the V 40 and V 44 it was powered by an inline engine rather than a radial, the {{convert|100|hp|kW|abbr=on|0}} Mercedes D.I. Operational historyThe V 42 was amongst five LFG entries to the Round Germany Flight held in the summer of 1925, though only the LFG V 39 took take part.[[3]] Specifications{{Aircraft specs |ref=Flight 28 May 1925 p.324 |prime units?=met |genhide= |crew=One |capacity=One passenger |length m= |length note= |span m=12.6 |span note= |upper span m= |upper span ft= |upper span in= |upper span note= |lower span m= |lower span ft= |lower span in= |lower span note= |height m= |height ft= |height in= |height note= |wing area sqm=24 |wing area sqft= |wing area note= |aspect ratio= |airfoil= |empty weight kg= |empty weight note= |gross weight kg=1069 |gross weight note= |max takeoff weight kg= |max takeoff weight lb= |max takeoff weight note= |fuel capacity= |more general=
