The Galliformes are a clade of bird species of cosmopolitan distribution that, with the Anseriformes, belong to the branch Galloanserae. The group have more than 270 living species and includes the megapodes, chachalacas, guans, curassows, turkeys, grouse, New World quails, pheasants, partridges and guineafowl. They are, with Neoaves, the two main lineages of Neognathae.[1][2][3] Extinct species assignment follows the Mikko's Phylogeny Archive[4] and Paleofile.com websites.[5] Summary of 2006 IUCN Red List categories{{IUCN_3.1 navmap/full}} Conservation status [v2017.3, the data is current as of May 8, 2018]:[6] {{IUCN status|EX}} - extinct, {{IUCN status|EW}} - extinct in the wild {{IUCN status|CR}} - critically endangered {{IUCN status|EN}} - endangered {{IUCN status|VU}} - vulnerable {{IUCN status|NT}} - near threatened {{IUCN status|LC}} - least concern {{IUCN status|DD}} - data deficient {{IUCN status|NE}} - not evaluated PhylogenyLiving Galliformes based on the work by John Boyd.[7] {{clade|style=font-size:90%;line-height:80% |1={{clade |label1=Megapodii |1={{Clade |label1=Megapodiidae |1={{Clade |1=Alecturini (Brushturkey & malleefowls) |2=Megapodiini (Scrubfowls) }} }} |2={{Clade |label1=Cracii |1={{Clade |label1=Cracidae |1={{Clade |1=Penelopinae (Guans) |label2=Cracinae |2={{Clade |label1=Ortalidini |1=Ortalis (Chachalacas) |2={{Clade |label1=Oreophasini |1=Oreophasis (Horned guans) |2=Cracini (Curassows) }} }} }} }} |label2=Phasiani |2={{Clade |label1=Numidioidea |1=Numididae (Guinea fowls) |label2=Phasianoidea |2={{Clade |label1=Odontophoridae |1={{Clade |label1=Ptilopachinae |1=Ptilopachus |2=Odontophorinae (New World quails) |label2=Phasianidae |2={{Clade |1=Rollulinae (Asiatic partridges) |2={{Clade |label1=Pavoninae |1={{Clade |1=Tropicoperdix |2=Tetraogallini (Old World partridges, quails & spurfowls) |3={{Clade |1=Gallini (Junglefowl, francolins) |2={{Clade |1=Pavonini (Peafowls) |2=Polyplectronini (Peacock-pheasants) }} }} }} |label2=Phasianinae |2={{Clade |label1=Ithaginini |1=Ithaginis (Blood pheasants) |2={{Clade |1=Lophophorini (Monals & tragopans) |2={{Clade |1=Phasianini (Pheasants) |2=Tetraonini (Grouses & turkeys) }} }} }} }} }} }} }} }} }} }}SpeciesFamily †Gallinuloididae Lucas 1900- Genus †Gallinuloides Eastman 1900
