He served as Alcaide of Évora,[1] and Guarda-mor of John I of Portugal.[2] BiographyBorn in Évora, was the son of Vasco Martins de Melo and Maria Afonso de Brito.[3] Martim married twice, the first with Beatriz Pimentel,[4] daughter of Juan Afonso Pimentel y Vasques da Fonseca, Count of Benavente, and Joana Telles de Menezes.[5] His second marriage was to Briolanja de Sousa, granddaughter of Vasco Martins de Sousa and Inês Dias Manuel,[6] daughter Sancho Manuel de Villena and Inés Díaz de Toledo.
