释义 |
The company name incorporates the names of Gilgan's two oldest children. Most of Mattamy's projects have been in Southern Ontario, but it has built homes in Ottawa, Ontario, Calgary, Alberta and some projects in the United States.[1]
Ontario Proud controversyIn December 2018, it was revealed through election financial disclosures that Mattamy Homes had donated $100,000 to Ontario Proud, a far-right political advocacy group which used television ads and Facebook as a platform to support Doug Ford and the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.[2][3] Ford would go on to win the 2018 Ontario general election. Later in 2018, his government advanced Bill 66, the Restoring Ontario's Competitiveness Act, which will remove restrictions on development of new suburbs in the Toronto area, particularly in the environmentally-sensitive Ontario greenbelt.
