It was recorded only once by German astronomer Albert Marth on October 30, 1864. Despite their apparent proximity, the stars are physically unrelated, with the brighter being {{val|1107|14}} light-years from the Sun, and the dimmer being {{val|4888|131}} light-years from the Sun.
