It was described by William Warren in 1896. It is found in India, where it has been recorded from the Khasia Hills.[1] The wingspan is about 30 mm. The forewings are shining purplish grey, but the costa and a line of marginal dots are yellow. There is a square, pale yellow, dark-edged spot in the middle of the cell and a larger irregularly reniform pale yellow blotch from the costa beyond the cell, with a darker dentate outer edge and a faint yellowish spot or two obliquely below it towards the base. The hindwings are like the forewings, but without an inner spot.[2] References1. ^{{cite web |last=Nuss |first=M. |display-authors=etal |date=2003–2017 |url=http://globiz.pyraloidea.org/Pages/Reports/TaxonReport.aspx |title=GlobIZ search |website=Global Information System on Pyraloidea |accessdate=March 1, 2018}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q19364764}}{{Spilomelinae-stub}}2. ^{{cite journal |last=Warren |first=W. |date=1896 |url=https://archive.org/stream/s6annalsmagazine18londuoft#page/114/mode/1up |title=New Species of Pyralidae from the Khasia Hills |journal=The Annals and Magazine of Natural History: Including Zoology, Botany, and Geology |publisher=Taylor & Francis |volume=18 |series=6 |page=114 |via=Internet Archive}} 2 : Spilomelinae|Moths described in 1896 |
