Xenohormones are a group of either naturally occurring or artificially created compounds showing hormone-like properties. Xenohormones are frequently implicated in endocrine disruption. EtymologyThe term is derived from the Greek words ξένος (xenos), meaning "stranger".[1] BackgroundThe most commonly occurring xenohormones are xenoestrogens, which mimic the effects of estrogen.
