Voters chose twelve representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president. Tennessee voted for the Liberal Republican candidate, Horace Greeley, over Republican candidate, Ulysses S. Grant. Greely won Tennessee by a margin of 4.32%.
