She was one of the first presidents of the National Association of Women Artists. She is known for her portrait paintings. BiographyWigand née Albright was born on June 24, 1852 in Madison, New Jersey. She was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.[1] She studied at the Art Students League and Cooper Union Art School in New York. Her teachers in New York included William Merritt Chase.[2]Wigand traveled to Paris in the mid-1880s[1] where she studied at the Académie Julian.
