Personal lifeTye served as a lance corporal in the Prince of Wales's (North Staffordshire Regiment) during the First World War and was killed in action at the Hai Salient, near Kut, Iraq, on 25 January 1917.[2][3] He is commemorated on the Basra Memorial.[4] Career statistics
