The initial gap between championships was four years, but since 1987 they have been awarded every two years. The current champion is Japan, which won its fourth title at the 2017 tournament. The 19 Asian Championship tournaments have been won by three different national teams. China have won thirteen times. The other Asian Championship winners are Japan, with four titles; and Thailand with two titles. The 2017 Asian Championship took place in Muntinlupa and Biñan, Philippines. The next Asian Championship will be hosted by South Korea in 2019. Results summaryYear | Host | | Final | | Third place match | | Teams |
