It is from the Terrei section.[1] The species was first described in 2011.[1] It has been isolated from soil in Ghana, Panama, and Japan.[1] It has been reported to produce aspulvinone, asterriquinone, butyrolactones, citreoviridin, mevinolin, terrain, and terrequinone A.[1] Growth and morphologyA. neoafricanus has been cultivated on both Czapek yeast extract agar (CYA) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates. The growth morphology of the colonies can be seen in the pictures below.
