His style has been described as a mix of art-rock and chamber-pop, informed by the likes of The Beach Boys and The Flaming Lips.[1] Ben was chosen as a BBC Introducing featured artist at age 19,[2] and was championed by presenter Gary Crowley as a "very talented singer-songwriter" who "creates his own unique moods".[3] Following regular airplay for his debut single, Falling, Ben was signed to Mayfield Records,[4] and subsequently embarked on a U.K. tour in support of his upcoming album, performing alongside the likes of Mansun's Paul Draper.[5] Ben's debut album, I, was released in March 2019[6] to critical acclaim[7][8][9]. He is also the drummer of the psych-soul group Mokono. Personal LifeBen was born in Barnet and raised in Watford, where he attended Watford Grammar School for Boys.[10] He studied at The University of Southampton, graduating in 2019 with a BA Music.[11] He is the son of music journalist Paul Lester.
