It is the least populous township in Clinton County, with 505 inhabitants as of the 2010 census.[3] GeographyLocated in the northeastern part of the county, it borders the following townships:
The entire township lies in the Virginia Military District. No municipalities are located in Wilson Township, but it does contain the unincorporated community of Bloomington. Name and historyThe only Wilson Township statewide, it is named for Amos Wilson, one of the earliest settlers of the county, who arrived in approximately 1796. The township was erected in 1850 by the Clinton County Commissioners from parts of Union, Richland, and Liberty townships.[4] GovernmentThe township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township fiscal officer,[5] who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees. References
