Angel Bins

Angel Bins is a Los Angeles, California based for-profit company. Founded in 2012, Angel Bins works with people, schools, and non-profit organizations to help raise money by collecting new or used shoes that are then distributed globally to developing nations helping micro-entrepreneurs.

History

Angel Bins began as a unique fundraising idea when Murtaza Haji the owner of Samiyatex, a recycling warehouse, envisioned a better solution for school fundraising. The Los Angeles business had been purchasing and recycling unwanted clothing and shoes from thrift stores for over 2 decades. In 2012 Angel Bins was established as the company’s philanthropic branch, and began offering no cost recycling fundraisers. Most items are packed and sent abroad to developing nations, including Chile, Peru, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Zambia, Philippines, and more. Other items in stained, or damaged condition can be recycled to make yarn, wiping rags, and insulation.

The Samiyatex warehouse processes over 12 million pounds of textiles and 3 million pounds of shoes annually.

Business Model

The aim of Angel Bins is to help people, schools, and non-profits fundraise for their cause. Angel Bins partners earn 100% of profits raised. Angel Bins also aims to help people globally to create their own self-sustaining economic path. Angel Bins purchases shoes from their North American partners and re-sells them overseas at a reasonable price to micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries globally, who in turn re-sell those shoes for profit to their local communities creating business opportunities otherwise not available.
