Early LifeDuff was born and raised in Peabody, Massachusetts. [2]She was raised in a politically active household, her father was involved in state and local democratic politics, and her mother had worked for Governor Herter and President Eisenhower.[3] Duff is also great grand-daughter to Julia Harrington, the first Irish Catholic Woman to be elected to Boston School Committee.[4] CareerEileen Duff holds a Bachelor's Degree from Trinity Washington University, as well as a Master's Degree in Management and a Doctoral Degree in Ministry. She received a Presidential appointment from President Clinton to work as a Confidential Assistant to Commissioner Rachelle Chong at the FCC. Duff previously worked for the Hospice of North Shore and Greater Boston as a Chaplain.[5] Governor's CouncilEileen Duff was first elected in 2012. She won reelection in 2014 and 2016. Her current term ends in 2021.[6] Duff is not a lawyer and prides herself on being an impartial member of the Governor's Council. She is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. When first elected in 2012, Duff was the highest ranking openly LGBT official in Massachusetts State legislature.
