She is the President and CEO of the National Food & Beverage Foundation and the Director of the Southern Food & Beverage Museum. She was the President and CEO of the University of New Orleans Foundation, Director of the Arts Administration Program at UNO, in the private practice of law, and a member of the U.S. Army J.A.G. Corps. She has written or co-written 3 books about food policy, as well as the history and culture of food and drink in the New Orleans area. She has contributed chapters in other food studies volumes. CareerLawAfter graduating from law school at Louisiana State University in 1974, Williams joined the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps as a Captain, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. After 3 years on active duty, she returned to the United States and worked at the Board for Correction of Military Records at the Pentagon. She returned to New Orleans, where she practiced law. Nonprofit and Museum AdministrationIn New Orleans Williams became a member of the Adjunct Faculty of the University of New Orleans teaching Arts Administration Law. She became the Director of the Program in 198--. She became the President and CEO of the UNO Foundation in 1997. She became involved with the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, which is a project of UNO, and she was a member of the board of the D-Day Museum, which became the National World War II Museum. In 2008 she opened the Southern Food & Beverage Museum. WritingWilliams did some writing before establishing the Southern Food & Beverage Museum. But her writing increased as she became more involved with food. She wrote, with Stephanie Jane Carter, The A-Z Encyclopedia of Food Controversies and the Law. Williams wrote New Orleans: A Food Biography, which was chosen as the One Book, One New Orleans selection for 2018, and co-wrote with Chris McMillian, Lift Your Spirits.
