Hily was released on August 14, 2017 by Hily Corp.[3] The app is compatible with iOS and Android operating systems.[4]

History

Hily was co-founded by Yan Pronin.[5] Pronin has a professional background in analytics and statistical modeling.[5] Leveraging his experience, Pronin created Hily as a secure platform aimed at improving the way people connect.[5] The app matches prospective partners based on similar interests, instead of geographic location and physical attractiveness.[6][7] Hily's registration options for gender include male, female and non-binary.[8]

In October 2017, Hily had 35,000 users during its closed beta stage.[5] The app later increased user acquisition rates through a partnership with Snapchat.[9] The app's advertising campaign on Snapchat amassed over 10 million views according to a client case study by Fanbytes.[10] As of March 14, 2019, Hily was ranked number 21 on the iTunes App Store for social networking apps.[11]

Artificial Intelligence

Hily employs an advanced set of machine learning and statistical algorithms.[1] Analyzing data such as depth of dialogue, word choice and mutual likes, Hily identifies profiles with a high probability for a match.[6][12] The AI software constantly monitors user engagement. In turn, increased usage of the app improves the quality of recommended matches and the user experience.[13]

Security

Hily maintains a safe environment through prioritizing user safety and platform security.[14] The app requires account verification through live photo capture, uploading a photo of an official ID or Facebook integration.[5] Machine based algorithms automatically check the content of app messages and photos to block any offensive, abusive or spam content.[14]

Communication Tools

Hily's matchmaking interface is navigated by swiping right to "like" a profile and left to display the next potential match.[15] The app provides user notifications when a profile is liked.[8] After a "mutual like", the messaging feature is enabled.[14] Users can then send text messages, GIFs, photos and recorded video.[14][16]

Business Model

Hily is distributed via the iTunes App Store and Google Play under a freemium business model.[17][16] The app is free to download and use, while additional features are offered under a paid premium subscription plan called Hily Elixir.[11] Hily Elixir includes rollbacks, profile boosts, chat requests and other features.[11]
