Jenny Fitzgerald is a member on the Conejo Valley Unified School District School Board. She was elected onto the board on November 6th, 2018 as the most voted candidate with almost 25,000 votes.^[1]

Fitzgerald graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Political Science.^[2] She then earned her law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law. Currently she is an in-house corporate business counseling attorney in the Conejo Valley. Previously, she worked as a litigation attorney and an attorney for the California Department of Managed Health Care. She also interned in the district office of former State Senator (current State Superintendent of Public Instruction) Tom Torlakson and in the Capitol office for former State Assembly member (current State Senator) Hannah-Beth Jackson. Additionally, she previously served as the Student Trustee for the Contra Costa Community College Board. Fitzgerald was also the Vice-Chair of the General Plan Update Task Force for the city of Martinez, which was charged with preparing and adopting a comprehensive, long-term general plan for the physical development of the city.

Fitzgerald is notably against the Opt-Out book policy previously proposed by the Conejo Valley Unified School District to allow parents to choose whether or not their students are allowed to read literature assigned in class. She explains: “I believe our children should learn about the world we live in so they grow up to be informed and engaged members of our society”, citing the importance of the lessons she learned from reading The Diary of Anne Frank in middle school.^[3]
