The date that the building was built is probably incorrect, because it is inconsistent with the description of the building as historic. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:05, 29 October 2018 (UTC)}} One of the most important and relevant historical buildings in Chihuahua is La Quinta Carolina. La Quinta was once one of many important haciendas of Chihuahua in the early twentieth century. It served both as a summer retreat house and as a livestock ranch. It belonged to General Trias in the late nineteenth century, but after his death, it was acquired by Luis Terrazas. A prominent politician, military and Mexican businessman. This magnificent residence, was built in 1896 by Terrazas, whose taste was delicate and very European style. The site is very close to the city taking a 30 minute drive. In the early twentieth century, two rows of huge green trees gave shade from the burning sun during spring, contrasting with the barren landscape of winter. It has four symmetrical entrances, there is a plaza; surrounded by an alluring iron fence, painted in white and divided by columns of quarry topped by a big sphere. The inside has a huge living room that leads to different chambers and areas of the house. The main house is not the only building of this Hacienda, there is also a large edifice that was destined to safeguard the horses and its workers back then. This construction is called “El Meson”. This particular structure was rebuilt and embellished and is now used for different events. La Quinta was vandalized and burned of its wonderful dome, the perimeter fence was stolen and the external paintings were full of graffiti. After years of abandonment the government decided to rescue it and use it as a music school for people with low income. La quinta carolina[1][2] |
