The short focuses on a Lynch-esque club, where entertainers are looking to sing songs requested by the audience. None of the film has sound recorded on location. "All of it was ADR and subtitles and sound design,"[2] which made a very dream-like aesthetic. Themes of love, humanity, and existentialism are covered during its short run time.
Plot Summary

The short begins with a few shots of club singers (or rather, Evans and The Entertainment) frozen, with captions explaining how ready they are to sing, and that they’re taking requests. The film then cuts between different tables of guests: First one with a Sad Cowboy drinking next to a Forgotten Lover. Then, a Bride sitting alone, veil covering her face and flowers on the table. Next, identical Twins reading Tarot cards. Lastly, a customer sitting alone, gripping a beer, staring directly into the camera with an cruel gaze.

The audience then starts calling out their requests: Songs about meaningful chance encounters, songs that relate to what personally happened to the patrons, those that are heard everywhere and sung along to - even if nobody cares about the tune in the first place.

Evans and the Entertainment starts singing. First about love, its possibility, and its desire. The film then cuts to the audience reacting to the lyrics. Then, the realization that humans aren’t special enough to circumvent overwhelming odds. The lead then asks “Is my life a joke,” leading to a series of existential lyrics. The Sad Cowboy, Forgotten Lover, and Tarot Twins are shown grooving to these lyrics, while a Cruel Customer looks at the camera with the same discomfort as before. that lead to the statement that he’d be alright leaving who he loves. The Cruel Customer drinks his bear, the Tarot Twins look on, and the Bride lifts her veil. Lyrics continue on about the realization of the passage of time, as well as acknowledging that “the whole world is having a nervous breakdown”, and that no one is at ease. The Bride starts crying into her clenched hand. The Tarot Twins pause. The Sad Cowboy holds his drink for a moment.

Then, motion stops. The Cruel Customer demands a song that everyone loves - so that he can “sing it and be loved too.” Time starts again for the audience (but not the Entertainment), all of whom are discomforted by the Cruel Customer’s demand. He eventually runs up and starts manhandling Evans and the Entertainment. This culminates in the cruel customer pulling the curtain aside, revealing the cosmos. Seemingly so close, yet entirely incomprehensible.
