Founded by executives in the semiconductor, telecommunications, and automotive industries in Japan in 2014, Trillium has since expanded to having offices in Tokyo, Sunnyvale, Ann Arbor and Ho Chi Min City. In November of 2016, Trillium announced a partnership with NXP to bring cybersecurity to vehicles as connectivity becomes more commonplace in the automotive industry.^[6]

In January of 2018, Trillium was selected to participate in the Volkswagen Data:Lab Startup Collaboration Space to develop AI solutions for Volkswagen and the greater automotive industry.^[7]
