Jamie Dutcher (born {{Circa}} 1964), is an American naturalist, author and sound recorder/sound mixer. Jamie and her husband, Jim Dutcher, are creators of the documentary Wolves at Our Door. Early lifeDutcher was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Bethesda and Chevy Chase, Maryland. After attending Walt Whitman High School she graduated from the University of Maryland. While working at the animal hospital of the National Zoo she began a correspondence with Jim Dutcher, eventually being invited to his study of wolves at an observation camp in the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho.[1][2] WolvesThe Dutchers observed a set of captive wolves, the "Sawtooth Pack", until 1996. During this time she became the camp′s sound engineer.[2] These recordings were used in the Discovery Channel wildlife documentary Wolves at Our Door (1997).[3] In 2005 they produced a follow–up documentary and book, Living with Wolves, which chronicles their experiences living with the Idaho wolfpack, and founded Living with Wolves, a non-profit educational organization. AwardsDutcher received the 1998 Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming Emmy award for her work on Wolves at Our Door.[4] Publications
