Keloğlan is a fictional figure in Turkish folklore and literature. Kel means "bald" and oğlan means "boy" . In tales, Keloğlan is a poor and witty boy lived during the Ottoman Empire times. There are many Keloğlan tales. In these tales Keloğlan usually has an old and widowed mother. In a few tales, he also has a father and brothers. His main antagonist is a man named Köse (literally "beardless") In some tales a sultan, a vizier a kadı (judge) or even a giant or a fairy may also be one of his antagonists. In all such tales he always defeats his opponents. In some tales he marries with the daughter of the sultan.[1] . There are some characteristic elements of the tales. Professor Kelime Erdal lists these characteristics as;[2]
