Despite its name, it is not part of or sponsored by its former parent organisation, the Karen National Union (KNU), nor the KNLA.[2] The group is a signatory of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, which was finalised in 2015.[3] References1. ^{{cite news|title=Karen Rebel Group Defies Myanmar Military Order to Disarm|url=http://www.rfa.org/english/news/myanmar/karen-09172014175131.html|accessdate=8 January 2018|work=Radio Free Asia|language=en}} {{Insurgent groups in Myanmar}}2. ^{{cite web|title=Burma Partnership » KNU/KNLA Peace Council|url=http://www.burmapartnership.org/tag/knuknla-peace-council/|website=www.burmapartnership.org|accessdate=15 October 2017}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=KPC|url=http://www.mmpeacemonitor.org/background/economic-and-political-stakes/162-kpc|website=www.mmpeacemonitor.org|accessdate=15 October 2017|language=en-gb}} 3 : Paramilitary organisations based in Myanmar|Karen people|Rebel groups in Myanmar |
