}}Kurukshetra is an upcoming Indian Kannada-language epic historical war film, written by J. K. Bharavi and directed by Naganna. It is based on the poem Gadhayuddha by Ranna, which itself is based on the Indian epic Mahabharata.[1] The story is centred on Duryodhana, a Kaurava king.[2] Produced by Muniratna Naidu.[3]

The film features an ensemble cast including Darshan, Ambarish, V. Ravichandran, Arjun Sarja, Nikhil Gowda, Sneha, Meghana Raj, Sonu Sood, Srinivasa Murthy, Danish Akhtar Saifi, Ravishankar and Hariprriya portraying characters from Mahabharata.[4] The score and soundtrack for the film were composed by V. Harikrishna whilst the cinematography is by Jayanan Vincent.[5]

Synopsis

The story is a reinterpretation of the Mahabharata from the view of Duryodhana.

Production

Filming began on 6 August 2017 with the official launch being held on the same day.[6] A major portion of the filming was done at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.[7] The film is planned for release in july or August 2019 and in both 2D and 3D formats.{{cn|date=December 2018}} This is the final movie by the late actor Ambarish.

The film was shot in both 3D and 2D. The 3D stereographer is K. P. Nambiathiri and the 3D stereoscopic and 3D visual effects director is Jeemon Pullely. The complete 3D production was by Folea Studio. The 3D camera team was Sreekumar and Sambath and the 3D stereoscopic supervision team was Vinex kv, Shimal and Nivin.{{cn|date=December 2018}}

Soundtrack

The musical director V. Harikrishna is scheduled to compose the film's score.
