Her preferred medium is acrylic paint, but she has been known to use oil on occasion. She also owns a retail art studio in Weymouth, MA which was opened in 2015.[1] Early life and educationBoston grew up in Needham, MA and has focused on art her entire life.[2] In high school, Boston participated in two different honors art programs: one at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the MASSART Saturday Studios program at Massachusetts College of Art.[2] She later attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts full time to study studio art where she graduated in 2000 with a Studio Diploma.[1] During college Boston got a studio space under Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, an installation artist.[2] Boston was also influenced by Domingo Barreres, a notable artist and teacher at SMFA, who taught her how to think about the object as a whole including the parts of the object that you can't see.[2] CareerAfter graduation Boston met Edwina Caci and studied under her for 6-7 years.[2] Caci taught Boston how to use oil paints since at the time she was using solely acrylics.[2] Boston paints pet portraits through commission and paintings inspired from pop culture. She occasionally uses gold, silver, or copper leaf in her work.[2] From 2002-2015 Boston had a studio at the Codman Co. building in Rockland, MA.[3] Boston is a past president of the Weymouth Art Association as well as a previous board member for the Quincy Art Association.[4] Liz Boston Art StudioIn 2015, Boston opened her retail art studio.[1] Originally located at 66 Sea Street in North Weymouth, MA, Liz Boston Art Studio quickly became a fixture in the community. Liz Boston Art Studio is a place for people of all skill levels to come and enjoy making art. Boston teaches art classes to people of all ages at her studio. It also boasts a variety of art-related activities, which include painting on a canvas panel which has a pre-drawn image on it (like a coloring book page), follow along painting events, art birthday parties, and art camps.[5] Boston also displays many of her own fine art pieces at her studio. In 2018, the Art Studio was moved to a larger location, located at 176A Middle Street in Weymouth, MA. Teen Art SquadIn 2018, Liz Boston created the Teen Art Squad[6] to give young artists a opportunity to create art in the community. While the meetings for the Teen Art Squad and some of the funding for their supplies comes from her Art Studio, the Teen Art Squad is a not for profit venture. She coordinates with the various schools in the area to have the Art Squad artist's participation count toward each member's Community Service requirements at school. The Art Squad is an entirely volunteer effort, with the teens producing murals and art in and around the local community under Liz' guidance. To date, the Teen Art Squad has painted a rain barrel for the North River Watershed Association of Norwell, MA[7], and painted an "outdoor classroom" for the Frederick C. Murphy Elementary School in Weymouth, MA.[8] They are currently painting a new mural at the Weymouth Teen Center. ExhibitionsBoston has exhibited in the Quincy Art Association Show and the Weymouth Art Association Show multiple times.
