}} Mansonia (Mansonioides) annulifera is a species of zoophilic mosquito belonging to the genus Mansonia. DistributionIt shows a wide range of distribution from east to west. It is found in Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Guinea (Island); Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka,[1] Thailand and Vietnam.[2][3] BehaviorIt is an endophilic species, prefer to rest indoor places.[4] Adults normally active in one after midnight and before dawn.[5] Medical importanceIt shows high affinity for human biting and is a potent vector of Brugia malayi to cause Malayan filariasis.[6] In 1980, Japanese encephalitis virus was isolated from M. annulifera from India, which was the first isolation of the virus from this mosquito.[7] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://thakshana.nsf.ac.lk/slstic/NA-81/NA_81.pdf |title=An annotated checklist of mosquitoes of Sri Lanka |publisher=Man and Biosphere Reserve of Sri Lanka |accessdate=2 February 2017 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160625065751/http://thakshana.nsf.ac.lk/slstic/NA-81/NA_81.pdf |archivedate=25 June 2016 |df= }} 2. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.catalogueoflife.org/col/details/species/id/23d4e187e0d0a8105cbec0a1a75e0ca2 | title=Species Details : Mansonia annulifera (Theobald, 1901) | publisher=Catalogue of Life |accessdate=2 February 2017}} 3. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.mosquitocatalog.org/taxon_descr.aspx?ID=15404 | title=annulifera (Theobald) | publisher=Systematic Catalog of Culicidae |accessdate=2 February 2017}} 4. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.tm.mahidol.ac.th/seameo/1992-23-2/1992-23-2-324.pdf | title=THE RESTING AND HOUSE FREQUENTING BEHAVIOR OF MANSONIA ANNULIFERA, MA.
