It opened in 1979 and was developed by Robert B. Aikens & Associates, and is now owned by CBL & Associates Properties. Today, Acadiana Mall houses three department store anchors (Macy's, J.C. Penney and Dillard's). In 2015, Sears Holdings spun off 235 of its properties, including the Sears at Acadiana Mall, into Seritage Growth Properties.[2] Sears has recently closed leaving its site vacant. J. C. Penney built in 1990 on the site of a closed Selber Brothers,[3] while Dillard's was formerly D. H. Holmes. The Macy's store opened as Goudchaux's/Maison Blanche, and was sold to Parsian in 1998.[4] Parisian became Foley's in 2001[5][6] before converting again to Macy's. The mall received a minor facelift in the early 1990s and a major renovation in 2004, bringing in a more contemporary look. On February 21, 2013, the mall changed its name back to Acadiana Mall.[7] Hurricane KatrinaIn 2005, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the mall became the assembly-point and staging area for what became known as the Cajun Navy, which was credited with rescuing thousands of flood victims.[8] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.cblproperties.com/pag.nsf/CorpSiteByAlphaWeb/Mall+of+Acadiana?opendocument |title=Acadiana Mall |publisher=CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. |accessdate=2011-01-20 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110708125409/http://www.cblproperties.com/pag.nsf/CorpSiteByAlphaWeb/Mall%2Bof%2BAcadiana?opendocument |archivedate=2011-07-08 |df= }} 2. ^http://www.seritage.com/retail/property/5715-johnston-st/3312540/landing 3. ^http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=AD&p_theme=ad&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0EB475B167EC6A88&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM 4. ^http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=AD&p_theme=ad&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0EB478B1B4B3285F&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM 5. ^http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=AD&p_theme=ad&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0EB47991D8721E6C&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM 6. ^http://www.thefreelibrary.com/CBL+%26+Associates+Properties+Acquires+Super-Regional+Mall+in...-a0134031011 7. ^http://www.klfy.com/story/21301549/acadiana-mall 8. ^{{cite web|title=How citizens turned into saviors after Katrina struck|url=https://www.cbsnews.com/news/remembering-the-cajun-navy-10-years-after-hurricane-katrina/|website=CBS News|publisher=CBS Interactive Inc|accessdate=10 September 2017|language=en|date=August 29, 2015}} External links
