}}Mike Thorne is a Canadian entrepreneur and a business owner. He is the founder of JustJunk, an award-winning Canadian junk removal service based in St. Catharines. He is also the recipient of the Chamber of Commerce New Business Of The Year Award, Top 40 under 40 award and the Canadian Franchise Associations prestigious Award of Excellence.[1][2]

Career

Thorne graduated in Economics from Queen's University in 2001. Soon after he was employed at Bell Canada as a control centre manager where he was asked to remove 20 years-worth of office junk. At the time there were no such companies which offered any junk removal services. That was the moment when Thorne realized a need for junk removal services for businesses and residential places around the world.[3][4] Thorne left his job and started JustJunk in 2004 in St. Catharines with the goal to provide an easy junk removal service.

The company offers online and over the phone junk removal bookings to offices and homes around Canada and the United States.[5] The company employs removal teams that remove, dispose and recycle the junk collected.[6] According to Thorne, the company donates treasures to local charities and museums in need.[7][8]

The company will often come across strange items such as World War II shells and bombs, a porcupine fish and even a human skeleton.[9][10][11][12]

In 2014, JustJunk was also featured in a Canadian reality TV show called Be The Boss Canada, the Canadian version of Be the Boss.[13][14][15]
