HistoryFrans's Station on the Butterfield Overland Mail was located about 3 miles north of Murray from 1858. The area that became Murray was settled in 1874 by Thomas Price. J. J. Murray joined Price, the two hunted buffalo there and in 1875 made the first wagon passage to the townsite. Other pioneers followed.
