It is controlled by the Puerto Rican Football Federation. HistoryPuerto Rico made its debut at the 1983 CONCACAF Championship were they faced Honduras and México. Subsequently they played in the FIFA U-17 World Cup qualifiers in 1991, 2000 and 2002. It wasn't until 2006 where they got their first two victories against Anguilla and Saint Lucia.[1] Since 2012 they have participated in every World Cup qualification. In 2012 the team was managed by Jeaustin Campos where they played in Cuba the first round of the qualification where they faced the hosts, Aruba and Bahamas but failing to advance to the next round.[2] In 2014 they went to Bahamas this time managed by Vítor Hugo Barros where they earned a win against Bahamas but failed to advance after losing 2-0 against Martinique and drawing scoreless to Bermudas.[3] Steven Estrada managed the team in 2016 with a very limited time to prepare. They lost all the matches against Haiti, Cayman Islands and Aruba, scoring only one goal.[4] Marco Vélez will be in charge of the U-17 in 2019.[5]PlayersCurrent squadThe following players were selected for the 2019 CONCACAF U-17 Championship qualifying.[6] {{nat fs g start}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=GK|name=Johan Rodríguez|age=|caps=0|goals=0|club=Continental FC DELCO|clubnat=USA}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=GK|name=Ian Mercado|age=|caps=1|goals=0|club=Bayamón FC|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs break}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=DF|name=Daniel Rosario|age=|caps=1|goals=0|club=Orlando City SC|clubnat=USA}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=DF|name=Giovanni Calderón|age=|caps=1|goals=0|club=Beachside SC|clubnat=USA}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=DF|name=José Luis Rivera|age=|caps=1|goals=1|club=SCR Peña Deportiva|clubnat=ESP}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=DF|name=Alejandro López|age=|caps=1|goals=0|club=Fraigcomar|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=DF|name=Diego Gerena|age=|caps=0|goals=0|club=Fraigcomar|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=DF|name=Diego Uriarte|age=|caps=0|goals=0|club=GPS|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=DF|name=Ian Mateo|age=|caps=1|goals=0|club=GPS|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs break}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=MF|name=Wilfredo Rivera|age=|caps=1|goals=0|club=Orlando City SC|clubnat=USA}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=MF|name=José López|age=|caps=1|goals=1|club=Xuventude Oroso|clubnat=ESP}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=MF|name=Yavieric Ortiz|age=|caps=2|goals=1|club=Orlando City SC|clubnat=USA}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=MF|name=José Hazim|caps=1|age=|goals=0|club=GPS|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=MF|name=Allan Agosto|age=|caps=1|goals=1|club=Villa Andalucía|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=MF|name=Maicol Roldán|age=|caps=1|goals=0|club=Bayamón FC|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=MF|name=Agustín Ortega|age=|caps=2|goals=2|club=Bayamón FC|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=MF|name=Diego Zayas|age=|caps=2|goals=1|club=GPS|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs break}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=FW|name=Jorge Bermúdez|age=|caps=1|goals=0|club=Fundación Marcet|clubnat=ESP}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=FW|name=Leandro Antonetti|age=|caps=1|goals=1|club=Xuventude Oroso|clubnat=ESP}}{{nat fs g player|no=|pos=FW|name=Andrés Ramos|age=|caps=1|goals=2|club=GPS Mayagüez|clubnat=PUR}}{{nat fs end}}References1. ^http://www.elhuracanazulpr.com/p/sub17.html 2. ^http://noticias.elhuracanazulpr.com/2012/07/sub17-puerto-rico-cae-ante-cuba-y-la.html 3. ^http://noticias.elhuracanazulpr.com/2014/07/puerto-rico-se-despide-goleando-bahamas.html 4. ^https://futbolboricua.co/insuficiente-el-aguerrido-esfuerzo-de-puerto-rico-y-queda-eliminado-en-eliminatoria-sub-17-del-caribe/ 5. ^http://noticias.elhuracanazulpr.com/2019/02/comienza-el-proceso-de-visorias-para-la.html 6. ^http://noticias.elhuracanazulpr.com/2019/03/se-prepara-la-seleccion-sub17.html External links{{Football in Puerto Rico}}{{CONCACAF under-17 teams}}{{National sports teams of Puerto Rico}}{{International Football}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Puerto Rico National Under-17 Football Team}} 2 : Puerto Rico national football team|Caribbean national under-17 association football teams |
