Treloar was born and raised in Sydney. He studied theology at Trinity College and Monash University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Theology, Master of Theology and Doctorate of Theology. Treloar was ordained as deacon in the Anglican Diocese of Ballarat and served as curate at St Peter's Ballarat and Warrnambool before becoming Rector of the Parish of Skipton. In 1998, he moved to the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne to become Associate Chaplain and Lecturer at Trinity College, Melbourne. He went onto become chaplain of Trinity College, Melbourne from 2003-2007. In 2007 Treloar was appointed as Incumbent of Christ Church, South Yarra. During this time, he also served as President of the Christ Church Grammar School, Melbourne. Treloar served in these posts[3] until his appointment as Bishop of Gippsland and his subsequent consecration as bishop in July 2018. Treloar remains a member of the Liturgy Commission of General Synod.
