Sam Denby (born March 17, 1997), better known through his online pseudonym Wendover Productions, is an American YouTube personality whose channel consists mainly of educational videos about the workings of the world, with topics ranging from travel to economics, geography, marketing etc.^[1] He also hosts a second channel, Half as Interesting,^[2] which gives a slightly satirical summary of various small, unusual topics. The channel was a continuation of a series called That Wikipedia List or TWL, which contained topics that were chosen from the Wikipedia list, Unusual articles, from which the series attained its name.^[3] Denby has a personal channel called Sam from Wendover.^[4] Denby created the Sam From Wendover channel for "behind the scenes and other stuff", as he stated in the channel trailer for the video.

Career

Denby created the YouTube channel 'Wendover Productions' on February 11, 2010. He uploaded his first video about the psychology of advertising on August 31, 2015. Denby has since uploaded 75 other videos. As of April 2019, he had amassed over 1.9 million subscribers and over 197 million total views.^[5] Denby later created a second channel on August 26, 2017 called Half as Interesting which currently has over 930,000 subscribers and has over 96 million total views.^[2]

In April 2017, Denby and Brian McManas, the host of a YouTube channel named "Real Engineering" made a podcast called "Showmakers" having created 15 episodes as of February 10, 2019.

Denby created a personal channel on March 26, 2018 with the name "Sam from Wendover", with over 41,000 subscribers and over 352,000 views as of April 5, 2019.^[4]

In March 2018 he was invited to film with scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson on his show Startalk, where Denby, Tyson and Chuck Nice talked about the possibilities of interstellar travel.

Denby's videos have been cited by various news outlets such as Forbes^[6] and The Telegraph.^[7]

Personal life

Denby was born in the United States, but as of July 2018 resides in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he is studying International Business at the University of Edinburgh.^[8][9]
