The pilot was created and produced by Carol Mendelsohn. The series was not picked up by ABC. DevelopmentThe network ordered the pilot on August 26, 2016,[1] which was written by Mark Bianculli & VJ Boyd and directed by Joachim Rønning. Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz served as executive producers. Filming began on March 13, 2017 in Vancouver.[2] The pilot had a production commitment with penalty behind it, but ultimately was not picked up by ABC. However, on June 26, 2017 Sony TV extended the options on the cast with the intention of turning the project into a series after all,[3] but at the end of the year, it was confirmed that the idea was dropped too and The Doomsday Project is a dead chapter. PlotAfter the events of 9/11, the U.S. government assembles a team featuring the most brilliant minds in science and entertainment - Kayla Greene, the best cyber security analyst in the country, Davis Albright, an engineer and architect, Warren Moore, a well-known intellectual playwright turned screenwriter, Elle Task, a renowned physicist, MD and author, Nate Hensley, a professional analyst, and Chris Wyatt, a Navy SEAL instructor specialized in military strategy - who is asked dreaming up manmade disaster scenarios and their possible solutions, in order to protect the world from further threats.
