Johnston started his professional career at Saracens in 1998. His form in his first couple of seasons led to selection for the Tour of South Africa in 2000.[1] Whilst he did not feature in a Test, he did play in a tour match against the Gauteng Falcons.[2] Johnston was selected for the 2002 tour of Argentina, making his debut against Los Pumas.[3] His second and final cap came in a victory over New Zealand at Twickenham.[4] Johnston also represented England Saxons at the 2003 Churchill Cup[5] and 2006 Churchill Cup.[6] After seeing out a two-year deal with French team Club Athlétique Brive, Johnston signed as player-coach with Nottingham R.F.C. for the 2009-10 season.[7] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/rugby_union/761010.stm|title=England's new boys: Backs|publisher=BBC|date=2000-05-23|accessdate=2010-01-28}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/rugby_union/810638.stm|title=England made to dig deep|publisher=BBC|date=2000-06-28|accessdate=2010-01-28}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/international/2060216.stm|title=Argentina beaten by England youngsters|publisher=BBC|date=2002-06-22|accessdate=2010-01-28}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/international/2430303.stm|title=England survive All Blacks scare|publisher=BBC|date=2002-11-09|accessdate=2010-01-28}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.rfu.com/News/2003/June/News%20Articles/EnglandWinChurchillCup?a=1&y=2003|title=England win Churchill Cup|publisher=RFU|date=2003-06-29|accessdate=2010-01-28|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120922070503/http://www.rfu.com/News/2003/June/News%20Articles/EnglandWinChurchillCup?a=1&y=2003|archivedate=22 September 2012|df=dmy-all}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/international/5077114.stm|title=England Saxons 27-30 Ireland A|publisher=BBC|date=2006-06-17|accessdate=2010-01-28}} 7. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/rugby/International-signs-Nottingham-Rugby/article-1304163-detail/article.html|title=International signs for Nottingham Rugby|publisher=This is Nottingham|date=2009-09-02|accessdate=2010-01-02}} External links
