2006{{see also|2006 World Baseball Classic rosters#Dominican Republic}}The Dominican Republic was invited to play at the inaugural World Baseball Classic in 2006. Placed in Pool D for the opening round, the Dominican Republic swept through the group, defeating Venezuela, Italy, and Australia at Cracker Jack Stadium in Lake Buena Vista, United States. After falling to Puerto Rico in the first game of the 2nd round in Puerto Rico, the Dominicans recovered to qualify for the semifinals by virtue of winning their last two games. They would fall in the semifinals, however, to Cuba. {{hidden begin| title = 2006 WBC Results | titlestyle = background:#F2F2CE;color:#001199; | bodystyle = background:#FFFFE6; }}{{baseballbox | date = 7 March | round = 1st Round, Pool D – Game 1 | team1 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | score = 11–5 | team2 = {{bb|VEN}} | stadium = United States Cracker Jack Stadium | attendance = 10,645 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2009/stats/boxscore.jsp?gid=2006_03_07_domint_venint_1 }}{{baseballbox | date = 9 March | round = 1st Round, Pool D – Game 4 | team1 = {{bb-rt|ITA}} | score = 3–8 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = United States Cracker Jack Stadium | attendance = 9,949 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2009/stats/boxscore.jsp?gid=2006_03_09_itaint_domint_1 }}{{baseballbox | date = 10 March | round = 1st Round, Pool D – Game 6 | team1 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | score = 6–4 | team2 = {{bb|AUS}} | stadium = United States Cracker Jack Stadium | attendance = 11,083 | boxurl = https://archive.is/20060818053936/http://www.worldbaseballclassic.com/2006/stats/stats.jsp?t=g_box&gid=2006_03_10_ausint_domint_1 }}{{baseballbox | date = 12 March | round = 2nd Round, Pool 2 – Game 2 | team1 = {{bb-rt|PUR}} | score = 7–1 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = Puerto Rico Hiram Bithorn Stadium | attendance = 19,692 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2009/stats/boxscore.jsp?gid=2006_03_12_purint_domint_1 }}{{baseballbox | date = 13 March | round = 2nd Round, Pool 2 – Game 3 | team1 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | score = 7–3 | team2 = {{bb|CUB}} | stadium = Puerto Rico Hiram Bithorn Stadium | attendance = 6,594 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2009/stats/boxscore.jsp?gid=2006_03_13_domint_cubint_1 }}{{baseballbox | date = 14 March | round = 2nd Round, Pool 2 – Game 5 | team1 = {{bb-rt|VEN}} | score = 1–2 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = Puerto Rico Hiram Bithorn Stadium | attendance = 13,007 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2009/stats/boxscore.jsp?gid=2006_03_14_venint_domint_1 }}{{baseballbox | date = 18 March | round = Semifinal | team1 = {{bb-rt|CUB}} | score = 3–1 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = United States Petco Park | attendance = 41,268 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2009/stats/boxscore.jsp?gid=2006_03_18_cubint_domint_1 }}{{hidden end}} 2009{{see also|2009 World Baseball Classic rosters#Dominican Republic}}The Dominicans were placed in Pool D of the 2009 World Baseball Classic, playing their opening round games at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Considered one of the pre-tournament favorites with multiple Major League Baseball All-Stars, they were upset in their opening game of the modified double-elimination pool by the Netherlands.[2] After eliminating Panama, they faced the Dutch again for the right to advance but were stunned in 11 innings[3] and eliminated from the competition. {{hidden begin| title = 2009 WBC Results | titlestyle = background:#F2F2CE;color:#001199; | bodystyle = background:#FFFFE6; }}{{baseballbox | date = 7 March | round = 1st Round, Pool D – Game 1 | team1 = {{bb-rt|NED}} | score = 3–2 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = Puerto Rico Hiram Bithorn Stadium | attendance = 9,335 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2009_03_07_nedint_domint_1&mode=box }}{{baseballbox | date = 8 March | round = 1st Round, Pool D – Game 3 | team1 = {{bb-rt|PAN}} | score = 0–9 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = Puerto Rico Hiram Bithorn Stadium | attendance = 9,221 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2009_03_08_panint_domint_1&mode=box }}{{baseballbox | date = 10 March | round = 1st Round, Pool D – Game 5 | team1 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | score = 1–2 (F/11) | team2 = {{bb|NED}} | stadium = Puerto Rico Hiram Bithorn Stadium | attendance = 11,814 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2009_03_10_domint_nedint_1&mode=box }}{{hidden end}} 2013{{see also|2013 World Baseball Classic rosters#Dominican Republic}}Drawn into Pool C with Puerto Rico, Spain, and Venezuela at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico once again, the Dominicans opened the round-robin round 1 with a decisive 9–3 victory over 2009 semifinalists Venezuela. A victory over Spain and a Puerto Rico win over Venezuela ensured advancement to the second round; the Dominicans clinched the top seed by defeating the hosts. In the second round, the Dominicans rallied past upstart Italy despite an early 4–0 deficit at Marlins Park in Miami, United States. Two ninth-inning runs pushed the Dominicans past the host Americans and into the semifinals. Another victory over Puerto Rico ensured the Dominicans of the top seed and a chance to avoid two-time defending champions Japan national baseball team. Instead, they would face the surprising semifinalists Netherlands. After an early 1–0 deficit, four 5th-inning runs pushed the Dominican Republic into the final, where a 3–0 victory gave them their first-ever World Baseball Classic title. New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Canó was named MVP of the tournament. {{hidden begin| title = 2013 WBC Results | titlestyle = background:#F2F2CE;color:#001199; | bodystyle = background:#FFFFE6; }}{{baseballbox | date = 7 March | round = 1st Round, Pool C – Game 1 | team1 = {{bb-rt|VEN}} | score = 3–9 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = Puerto Rico Hiram Bithorn Stadium | attendance = 15,055 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_03_07_venint_domint_1&mode=box }}{{baseballbox | date = 9 March | round = 1st Round, Pool D – Game 3 | team1 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | score = 6–3 | team2 = {{bb|ESP}} | stadium = Puerto Rico Hiram Bithorn Stadium | attendance = 13,412 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_03_09_domint_espint_1&mode=box }}{{baseballbox | date = 10 March | round = 1st Round, Pool D – Game 6 | team1 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | score = 4–2 | team2 = {{bb|PUR}} | stadium = Puerto Rico Hiram Bithorn Stadium | attendance = 19,413 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_03_10_domint_purint_1&mode=box }}{{baseballbox | date = 12 March | round = 2nd Round, Pool 2 – Game 1 | team1 = {{bb-rt|ITA}} | score = 4–5 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = United States Marlins Park | attendance = 14,482 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_03_13_itaint_purint_1&mode=box }}{{baseballbox | date = 14 March | round = 2nd Round, Pool 2 – Game 4 | team1 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | score = 3–1 | team2 = {{bb|USA}} | stadium = United States Marlins Park | attendance = 34,366 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_03_14_domint_usaint_1&mode=box }}{{baseballbox | date = 16 March | round = 2nd Round, Pool 2 – Game 6 | team1 = {{bb-rt|PUR}} | score = 0–2 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = United States Marlins Park | attendance = 19,762 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_03_16_purint_domint_1&mode=box }}{{baseballbox | date = 18 March | round = Final Round, Semifinals | team1 = {{bb-rt|NED}} | score = 1–4 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = United States AT&T Park | attendance = 27,527 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_03_18_nedint_domint_1&mode=box }}{{baseballbox | date = 18 March | round = Final Round, Final | team1 = {{bb-rt|PUR}} | score = 0–3 | team2 = Dominican Republic Dominican Republic | stadium = United States AT&T Park | attendance =35,703 | boxurl = http://mlb.mlb.com/wbc/2013/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_03_19_purint_domint_1&mode=box }}{{hidden end}} 2017The Dominican Republic advanced out of the first round of the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
