It is predominately Sunni Arab.[2]The former leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq, Jordanian-born militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, maintained a safehouse in the village. In 2006, while meeting in the safehouse with his spiritual adviser, he was bombed and killed by U.S.-led coalition aircraft.[3] {{Portal|Iraq}}{{coord|33|47|N|44|30|E|display=title|region:IQ_type:city_source:GNS-enwiki}}References1. ^ {{iraq-geo-stub}}2. ^https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/02/AR2007080202314.html 3. ^https://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/09/world/middleeast/09iraq.html 1 : Populated places in Diyala Province |
