Population: {{ru-census|p2010=59,633|p2002=64,878|p1989=67,324}} HistoryIt was one of the copper mining settlements established in 1758 on the Turya River.{{citation needed|date=May 2010}} At the time, it was known as Turyinskiye Rudniki ({{lang|ru|Турьинские Рудники}}).{{citation needed|date=May 2010}} Later it was known as Turyinsky ({{lang|ru|Турьинский}}).{{citation needed|date=May 2010}} It was granted town status and renamed Krasnoturyinsky in 1944.{{citation needed|date=May 2010}} Administrative and municipal statusWithin the framework of the administrative divisions, it is, together with five rural localities, incorporated as the Town of Krasnoturyinsk[2]—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[3] As a municipal division, the Town of Krasnoturyinsk is incorporated as Krasnoturyinsk Urban Okrug.[4] SportsThe bandy club Dynamo Mayak[5] has played in the highest division of the Russian Bandy League and now plays in the second highest division, Russian Bandy Supreme League.
