It is found on the Malay Peninsula (including extreme southern peninsular Thailand and Singapore), Sumatra, Java, Borneo (Indonesia, Malaysia), and a range of islands on the Sunda Shelf (Pulau Kundur, Palau Gallang, Great Natuna Island, Sinkeo Island).[2] Its natural habitats are shallow, gentle streams and nearby swampy areas including peat swamps, very flat alluvial forests, and overgrown plantations. It is becoming rare due to habitat loss (deforestation), and to a lesser extent, exploitation.[1] References1. ^1 {{Cite journal | author = Peter Paul van Dijk | author2 = Djoko Iskandar | author3 = Robert Inger | title = Limnonectes malesianus | journal = The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species | volume = 2004 | page = e.T58354A11771271 | publisher = IUCN | date = 2004 | url = http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/58354/0 | doi = 10.2305/IUCN.UK.2004.RLTS.T58354A11771271.en | access-date = 4 January 2018}} 2. ^{{cite web |url=http://research.amnh.org/vz/herpetology/amphibia/Amphibia/Anura/Dicroglossidae/Dicroglossinae/Limnonectes/Limnonectes-malesianus |title=Limnonectes malesianus (Kiew, 1984) |author=Frost, Darrel R. |year=2014 |work=Amphibian Species of the World: an Online Reference.
